The immediate denture process is a two-phase journey: the initial placement and the final stabilization. We guide you through every step to ensure long-term comfort.

Immediate Complete Dentures

Designed for patients having their remaining full arch of teeth extracted. We map your current bite and facial structure beforehand to craft a complete set that preserves your natural appearance and allows you to speak and smile without interruption immediately following surgery.

Immediate Partial Dentures

If you are having multiple scattered teeth extracted but keeping others, an immediate partial denture fills the new gaps instantly. This prevents your remaining healthy teeth from shifting into the empty spaces while your gums heal from the extractions.

The Essential Tissue Reline

As your extraction sites heal over the first 3 to 6 months, your gums and jawbone will naturally shrink and reshape. This is a normal part of healing, but it will cause your immediate dentures to feel loose. To solve this, we perform a “tissue reline,” adding new acrylic to the base of your denture to perfectly match your newly healed gums, ensuring a permanent, secure fit.

Will my immediate dentures still fit after my gums heal?

Initially, they will fit well, but as your extraction sites heal over the first 3 to 6 months, your gums and jawbone will naturally shrink. This is a normal biological process, but it will cause your dentures to feel loose. This is why a “tissue reline” is a mandatory final step in the immediate denture process. Once we reline the base to match your newly healed gums, the fit will be secure and permanent.

Do you work directly with my dentist or oral surgeon?

Yes, seamless collaboration is essential for immediate dentures. We work directly with the dental professional performing your extractions to coordinate surgical timelines, review X-rays, and ensure your custom prosthetics are fully fabricated and ready to be placed the moment your teeth are removed.

Can I eat and speak normally right after the extractions?

Your immediate dentures will act as a protective bandage over your surgical sites, which actually helps reduce bleeding and swelling. However, your mouth will be tender, and you will need time to adapt to the feel of the new prosthetic. We recommend sticking to a soft-food diet for the first few weeks and practicing speaking aloud.
